Brisbane & SEQ, Costs & Pricing
The drawing fee for deck plans is one part of the overall approval cost. This guide explains what the drawings cost, what’s included, and what other fees you’ll need to budget for alongside the plans.
Plan Draft charges $2,990 fixed for deck plans in Brisbane and South East Queensland. This covers ground level and elevated decks on standard residential lots, roofed or unroofed. The price does not vary based on the size of the deck or whether it’s elevated or at ground level.
Before work begins, we do a suitability review. If your site or project falls outside standard scope, we advise you before any commitment is made.

The engineer certifies that the framing, bearers, joists, posts, and connections, is designed for the required loadings. Engineering fees are quoted by the engineer, who you engage directly.
Private building certifier: The certifier reviews the drawings and issues the building approval. Certifier fees are set and quoted by the certifier. Your builder may have a preferred certifier.
Siting variation (if required): If the deck footprint can’t meet the standard setback distances from boundaries, a siting variation may be needed. Council sets the application fee, with current fees published on the council website. We flag this during suitability review if it applies.
Construction: Building the deck once approved is a separate cost arranged with your builder. Deck construction costs vary widely depending on materials, size, and height.
